It’s so exciting to know how well we’ve done with our featured pets of the week from the Suncoast Animal League. Let’s keep that streak alive with Bucky! Annette Dettloff, the Director of Development for the Suncoast Animal League tells us all about this cute little guy.

Meet Bucky…This happy fella is snuggly, cuddly, shadow dog Bucky. He is 9-years-old and weighs just 16 lbs. He came to us a couple of weeks ago when his mom passed away. He has been in one of our fabulous foster homes ever since and tomorrow he is hoping to meet his new [More]

Gary Sandy Brings Mike Hammer To Ruth Eckerd Hall

  • 4:04 am Wednesday, July 19th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

I said it many times Tuesday and I’ll say it again – after all these years it’s nice I can still get a little stars-struck! Gary Sandy was in our Performance Studio to talk about his work as the Artist in Residence at Ruth Eckerd Hall and all I could think about was Gary in the role of Andy Travis, the program director we all wished we had, on “WKRP in Cincinnati.” Your reaction to my posts on Facebook showed me exactly how much you all loved the show as well, and more than one brought up that iconic line [More]

What can I say? When you read Suncoast Animal League Executive Director Rich Chaboudy’s post on a sweet little pup named Ralphie and the abuse he suffered it makes me just plain angry. You wonder how someone can do this to a helpless animals. But then you have to thank the team effort that found Ralphie the help and healing he needed. I stopped in at the Suncoast Animal League Thrift Shop Saturday and had the chance to meet this brave two-month old who you would have never thought had surgery just two days before. It’s incredible how showing [More]

Some furry little people just find their own way in life when that life is in a shelter. That’s why we really need you to get to know Peaches and how much this cute with kitty loaded with ‘catitude” is ready for her forever home. Here’s how Annette Dettloff from the Suncoast Animal League sums up what we get when we get Peaches. Let’s start with adorable factor which is just off the charts…rolled over on his back…asking for a belly rub…aww…sooo cute and sooo fluffy…and sooo…….FEISTY!!!!  Peaches likes to play a little game with everyone in the shelter. Picking My Battles

  • 7:05 am Monday, June 26th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

Trying to lose weight on top of dealing with a chronic illness isn’t easy. Last time we talked about this I wasn’t quite sure what was going on other than the SLE was very active. It still is and we’ll keep trying to find the right meds to keep things quiet and to make sure the impact on my kidneys is lessened as much as possible. That’s my life and I’m okay with it. But when I was working out with Jim at the Gym, aka Jim Healy at the BayCare Fitness Center at St Anthony’s Carillon [More]

A Fond Musical Farewell From Glen Campbell

  • 9:08 am Monday, June 19th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

Everyone I spoke to about Glen Campbell seemed to come up with a great memory. One of my friends down the hall told me about the time he saved every penny he could – and we are talking lots of loose change – and took that down to the store so he could buy his own copy of “Rhinestone cowboy.” For me it was “The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour” and that great grin when he said those words every week – “Hi, I’m Glen Campbell!” Glen Campbell is one of those singers whose warmth, charm and voice are so endearing. • 5:56 am Thursday, June 15th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

We have a new friend to introduce you to from the Suncoast Animal League. Meet Paco. He’s a handsome, sweet, confident 7-month-old pup. He’s a lively little puppy who loves other dogs. But when it comes right down to it, he’s not so little at 48 lbs. Paco has a high energy level and would do best with a person or family who will keep him active and busy. He’s always on the go and happiest when he has something to do or someone to play with. He likes kids, but because he’s big and can be rough and [More]
