An afternoon full of beautiful music, good food at a great venue – that’s Straz Live! in the park, presented by Opera Tampa. It’s the culmination of National Opera Week Sunday afternoon in Curtis Hixon Park, downtown Tampa. The fun begins as early as 1 pm when the entrants in the Picnic in the Park Table Decorating Contest begin their work, with performances starting at 3 pm.
It’s a wonderful way to introduce yourself to the work of Opera Tampa as well as that of Metropolitan Ministries who will be on site Sunday. If you would like to make a cash donation or contribute healthy, non-perishable food items, they will be accepted at the Metropolitan Ministries’ information table. And for more on Opera Tampa and their upcoming performances just a take a look right here.
But the music! Opera Tampa Managing Director Robin Stamper joined us in the Circle K Performance Theater along with Mezzo Soprano Louisa Ramirez-Flynn to give us just a taste of what to expect on Sunday. You’ll hear opera, selections from Broadway shows and more. Enjoy my chat and Louisa’s performance. Just click here for more information on Opera Tampa as well as the Straz Center and National Opera Week and I’ll see you Sunday.
