I’ve said it more than once. There are times when I think how lucky I am that I have a job I just love, that allows me to do incredible things like ride along with the great guys from the city of Tampa when the Hillsborough River was died green. It’s the hallmark of the “Mayor’s River O Green Festival” that draw thousands down to Curtis Hixon Park each year to line the Riverwalk to watch the magic happen. That’s a pretty nice view. But actually being on the boat that does the work was just a plain blast! Chris, Rich and Chad make sure I made it down the ladder into boat safely along with my super-tech Ashley who held on for the ride and shot our Facebook live video you can view here. The before and after pictures are pretty cool…and especially the before of my hair and the after that makes it look like I did it with a blender. Just part of the fun!
I do need to thank all the great people who made this happen from the city of Tampa, like Ashley Bauman, Shaun Drinkard and Chuck Weber. To Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn who just rocked those green pants with shamrocks and had his family along for the afternoon. That included the newest member, a beautiful black German Shepherd. It was Mayor Buckhorn who sounded the horn that was our signal to start the boat and give the big crowd the thrill they were looking for! Just an astonishing ride, waving to everyone on the Tampa Riverwalk, the news choppers overhead and all the boats that found a perfect spot to watch the fun. Oh and all the students from UT. Must be nice to have all that in your backyard, right?
Enjoy the slideshow and we’ll see you next year!
