People Let Me Tell You ‘Bout My Best Friend

  • 2:30 pm Sunday, April 30th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

It’s Sunday afternoon and I’m enjoying my last day of vacation, watching the replay of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. Journey has just been inducted, Steve Perry receiving a massive ovation and showing the love to all his bandmates. I’ve heard that from all the inductees – it’s not all about them. It’s about what brought them to this point. The support from family, friends, fans and the industry is and always will be the recipe for success. I’ve waited a while to write this latest entry on my personal wellness journey because quite honestly it’s taken [More]

  • 5:51 am Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 by Ann Kelly

This week our Pet of the Week from the Suncoast Animal League is a real beauty – and hello ears!!! This lovely lady is Audrey. She’s a 3-year-old, 48 lb. Vizsla mix currently available for adoption at our shelter. This happy and silly girl is confident and always in a good mood. You can’t help but be happy around her.

Potty trained and active, Audrey gets along great with other dogs her size or smaller. She hasn’t been around cats so we’re not sure if she would be good with them. A fenced yard is required for this pup who [More]

“Bee” Part Of The Solution

  • 4:09 am Friday, April 21st, 2017 by Ann Kelly

There’s nothing I love more than puttering in my butterfly garden on a cool morning. But that garden needs the bees! This Earth Day I’d like to introduce you to Matthew Shepherd of The Xerces Society and the new book “100 Plants To Feed The Bees”. How many stories have you read lately that highlight how threatened bees are? They’re losing their natural habitats to overdevelopment, the use of insecticides and pesticides and changes in our environment. And that phrase “busy as a bee” couldn’t be closer to the truth – they a critical part of a healthy environment that [More]

Win The New Book About Prince

  • 3:51 am Thursday, April 20th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

Friday, April 21st marks the one-year anniversary of the shocking news of Prince’s death. Author Ben Greenman has a new book that’s not a gossipy tell-all, but rather a tribute to the icon and what defined his life and his music.

If you want to know what the creative process was like for the Prince of Paisley Park and why he had to go to war with his own record label this is the book with the answers. But what about those other tasty tidbits of knowledge that real fans already know, but are new to you? And one of [More]

Keeping The Family Together – Meet the SAL Bunnies Of the Week

  • 4:00 am Tuesday, April 18th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

Remember this story?

We have something special to share with you! It’s not often that the Suncoast Animal League gets domestic bunnies coming through the shelter, but we have a pair who have been together most of their lives and are attached at the hip, so to say. Meet Cupcake (white & black) and Camo (stripes). Cupcake is 5-years-old and was born in a bunny rescue so she has always been an indoor pet. She loves her blue igloo and to snuggle in a soft blanket. Camo is probably 5 or 6-years-old. He was rescued from a horse farm years ago and has [More]

The Best Of The Markets In Winter Garden

  • 10:28 am Sunday, April 16th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

I was looking for a new Ann-Venture this past weekend and I found a wonderful new market. But not just any market. What I found was the Winter Garden Farmers Market, ranked #1 not just in our state, but in the nation. Just last November the American Farmland Trust looked at over 7,000 markets across the nation and gave that top spot to Winter Garden. The vendors in the market are very proud of that and love to tell you how happy they are to score a space. But let’s start at the very beginning, with a sunrise [More]

Walk For The Cure

  • 5:43 am Monday, April 10th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

It’s easy to think of arthritis as “an older person’s disease.” So not true. It can impact you at anytime in your life and doesn’t discriminate. There are more than 100 kinds of arthritis, and that why I and thousands will walk on Saturday, May 6th at Al Lopez Field in Tampa. I have Lupus. Know what that is? It’s an auto-immune disease that can affect every organ in my body and has no cure, we just try and keep it under  control. That’s easier said than done lately and that’s why I want to see as many of you as possible helping us [More]

A Pitch For Learning To Swim

  • 4:52 am Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

When I think of Anthony Sullivan, I think of someone who could sell me just about anything. You probably know him best for the many products he’s pitched on TV, but Anthony has a very serious side when it comes to water safety. You may have seen him at the South Tampa YMCA getting in a workout as a part of the St Pete Masters. But as a certified adult-learn-to-swim instructor his message is simple – learn to swim!

April is Adult Learn To Swim Month and the statistics on just how many adults do not know how to swim are [More]
