You’re never too old for the prom! This Saturday night I’ll be one of the judges for “Wish Upon A Bone.” This will be a special night for senior dogs at the Dog House of Safety Harbor on Main St. from 4-8 pm. This inaugural prom is free, so why not your glitz and glam on and join more than a dozen rescue groups that will be on site along with many of what we call our more “seasoned” dogs who are still looking for their forever homesThey’ll be strutting their stuff down the red carpet along 8th Avenue, hoping for that King or Queen of the Prom honor. It’s going to be fun for everyone, on two legs or four with a “Smoochy-Pooch” kissing booth, raffles and a few more surprises courtesy of Kelly Chikos who owns The Dog House of Safety Harbor and Terry Meeks, owner of Four-On-The-Floor Dog Training. They know, like I do, that the senior dogs can be the hardest to find homes for. But really, how you not look deep into those loving eyes and not want to welcome them into your home.
Who will be along for the evening? Many of your favorite rescue groups like the Suncoast Animal League, Paws Rescue Group of Seminole, Canine Estates, Dogeden-Dunedin Doggie Rescue, Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Greyhound Rescue and Lab Rescue of Tampa Bay. Dogs may be adopted at the event in accordance with the policies of each rescue group. Standard fees will apply to most adoptions, and discounts may be offered for some. And the really fun part? Everyone who attends is also invited to dress up in prom attire! Now, where’s my tiara?! For more info on the event please call (727) 541-7858 to reach Terry and (727) 599-6959 for Kelly. See you at the Prom!
