This Thursday, August 17th is National Thrift Shop Day! I don’t have to tell you about the wonders of wandering aisles of your favorite thrift shop for bargains, treasures and unexpected finds. But taking a whole day to celebrate – why not! I have two favorites that I’m in quite a bit.
First of all the Empath Hospice Thrift Shop is a wonderful way to support the work of Empath Health. You’ve heard me talk about them many times on the air, and I’ve had the honor of hosting many events. Every extra dollar is a blessing to their work and with three locations they’re easy to find. I’m lucky enough to have the Highway 19 location in Clearwater very close to my home so I’ll make a point of dropping in to see what I might have missed on my last visit. The Suncoast Animal League opened their first Thrift Shop just a few months ago and it’s been a great success. They have the added attraction of some of the current pets up for adoption often spending the day to say hello and many alumni who drop by to celebrate their forever homes. I’ve created some special items you can buy in the shop, and 100% of those proceeds go directly to the shelter. Check their Facebook page for special offers like 50% off all day on Thursday and what shelter pets are stopping by.
Whatever shop you support thanks for your donations and dollars. It makes a big difference.
